Policies

Privacy policy

How Our chapter collects and uses information through this website.

Template. This is a starting policy provided with the website. The chapter should review it and adjust it to how it actually handles information before relying on it.

Who we are

Our chapter ("the chapter", "we") is a volunteer-run community organization. You can reach us through the contact page on this website.

What we collect

  • Information you send us. When you use a form on this site (contact, membership, volunteering, youth flights, scholarships, hangar waiting list, newsletter or text alerts) we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number and message.
  • Basic technical information. To prevent abuse we record a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser's user agent with each form submission. We do not use advertising trackers.
  • A security cookie. Forms set a short-lived cookie that protects against forged submissions. It is not used to track you.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to you, to run the program you signed up for, and to keep chapter records. We do not sell your information. Volunteers who coordinate a program can see the submissions for that program.

Text messages

If you sign up for text alerts we keep your mobile number, your consent and the date and wording you agreed to. We use your number only to send the chapter messages you asked for. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-messaging consent with third parties for their marketing. Reply STOP to any message to opt out; reply HELP for help.

Young people

Youth program sign-ups are made by a parent or guardian. We collect only what is needed to organize the flight or program, and we contact the parent or guardian, not the young person.

Service providers

The chapter uses a hosted chapter-management platform to store submissions and send email and text messages. Those providers process information on the chapter's behalf and under its instructions.

How long we keep it

We keep submissions for as long as they are useful for the purpose you gave them, and for any period the chapter must keep records. Ask us and we will delete what we can.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from email or text messages at any time. Contact us through the contact page on this website.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page.
